Banji is an Attorney whose creative approach to business underpins his analytical ability. Described as “very result oriented” and the “type of legal practitioner you want at all times”, Banji brings energy and a measure of calmness to his assignments. His innate problem solving skills have seen him advice on several landmark projects, where he combines his in-depth understanding of the Nigerian business and regulatory landscape with the more nuanced necessities of cross-border transactions.

He currently leads the Firm’s Corporate Commercial Group and the specialist Corporate Services and Tax Group. His capabilities have over time been demonstrated in a number of high value transactions, such as the $400 Million Nigerian Local Content Development Fund, an $80 Million fibre-optic backbone network project in the Niger Delta region, Wema Bank N7 Billion divestiture program, and a subsequent N35 Billion private placement. He advised Ecobank Plc on its $100 Million syndicated loan facility and has also advised some of Nigeria’s biggest financial institutions on a number of derivatives and repo transactions. He has at various times negotiated IT contracts, including a $ 1.3 Billion merger transaction in the insurance sector, amongst other ongoing projects.

He retains an active interest in research and innovation and is a regular country correspondent for the IFLR 1000 Monthly Magazine.
